My Favorite Festival
My favorite festival is the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, which is also known as Aluth Awurudda. It is one of the most important and joyful festivals celebrated in Sri Lanka.
This festival usually takes place in April and marks the traditional new year for both Sinhalese and Tamil people. During this time, families clean their houses, prepare traditional food, and celebrate together with happiness.
One of the most special parts of the festival is preparing delicious traditional foods such as Kiribath, Kokis, and Kavum. Families also follow special traditions like lighting the hearth at an auspicious time, exchanging gifts, and respecting elders.
Another exciting part of Aluth Awurudda is playing traditional games. People play games like tug of war, pillow fighting, and many other fun activities. These games bring people together and create a joyful atmosphere in the village.
I love this festival because it brings families and friends together. It is a time of happiness, unity, and new beginnings. Everyone forgets their worries and celebrates with love and kindness.
Same here darling 🫢 🥹
